Summer of 2020
I took Journalistic Storytelling with Jim Streisel and the InDesign class with Elizabeth Cyr. I learned a lot from Mr. Streisel about finding an angle in the story and how to master the basics. I enjoyed this course a lot and it was a great refresher course for me. I recommended this course to several middle school students and those thinking about getting started in journalism. Mastering the core elements of journalism/news will be very helpful early on to a person who is just beginning. The InDesign class helped me hone my design skills.
Summer of 2021
This summer I decided to take "Photojournalism: beyond the basics," and "The Bobby Hawthorne Experience."

I always had an interest in photography and had a little bit of experience before taking this class. After taking this class, I had experience in photojournalism. Learning from an encouraging teacher like Julie Price has been amazing. I ended up winning the Sparty Award.

The Bobby Hawthorne Experience was the best writing class I have ever taken. I have become the storyteller I am today, because of his techniques and sharp critiques. My entire life literally changed because of what I learned from Bobby Hawthorne.
On the last and final assignment I turned in for the class he said:
"I'm very impressed with your work this week. You've improved as much or more than any student. I think you're just scratching the surface of your talent and ability. Thanks for your hard work under difficult circumstances. All the best."

I received an excellence award.

I could not end the MIPA 2022, due to the Detroit Free Press Apprenticeship.
